Creating value at ALTANA:
From Integrated Solutions to Customer Value

In 2019, Heisters & Partner also developed the concept and design of the integrated corporate report for the specialty chemicals group ALTANA AG. The report shows how ALTANA creates added value for its customers, employees, owners and society as a whole with close customer proximity, innovative top performance and sustainable solutions. To this end, ALTANA invests specifically in future technologies, expands into growth markets in the long term and establishes a consistent and global promotion of internal talent. The report makes it clear that ALTANA always has its customers in mind and follows their development and needs for future success in their markets.

The storytelling takes the reader through strong introductory pages to the main topics, which are based on the six capitals of the company's value creation in the sense of integrated reporting. In addition to its own financial capital, ALTANA also takes external resources into account, the use and value development of which are reported openly and extensively. The company takes into account the demands of different interest groups and relates them directly to its own materiality index, which describes the most important objectives of ALTANA AG and its stakeholders.

 

The image stories show the range and spectrum of commitment within the framework of sustainable value creation and, in doing so, move in narrative contrast from the large to the small, from the global to the local, from excellence to growth and finally from the solution to optimized customer performance. The report thus draws conceptual circles that convey to the reader the diversity and holistic nature of the company's strategy and at the same time integrates all aspects of sustainable and long-term growth. It becomes clear that the company lives the same values ​​on a small scale as it does on a large scale.

 

In this sense, the individual chapters of the report list not only economic and technological capital, but also environmental protection and social responsibility as important contributions to a responsible and sustainable value creation strategy – a strategy that creates lasting values ​​not only for the company itself, but also for its associated stakeholders. In keeping with the principle that values ​​increase when they are shared, the report shows the lived interaction between customers, employees, the environment and society with credible stories that tell the tension between demands and value creation in an authentic and credible way.

 

In combination with the impressive photography of Munich photographer Robert Brembeck, who knows how to portray the characters in a very natural way and who has been responsible for the visual language of ALTANA AG for a number of reports, credible narrative pieces are created that lead the reader in six stages deep into the heart of the value creation potential of the world's leading specialty chemicals company.

The report's straightforward typography is based on »Frutiger Next«, which is supported by a confident color concept and ideally supports the reporting in the management report and appendix in the micro and macro areas. This ALTANA report 2019 has also been implemented as an online HTML version and as an e-book and provides the reader with all information adapted and optimized for reading on all media channels. The individual stories of the annual report are used in various of the company's media channels, e.g. on Facebook and Twitter, in parallel with traditional reporting.
